| On May 15, 1914, the
above item appeared in the local newspaper. The area of the lease
and the "Tenderfoot" drill site is just west of the current city limits
of Miami, Oklahoma. The McConnell-Barnes Mine was located just
across what is now P Street and west of the old B. F. Goodrich plant (Goodrich Blvd.) in Miami. The area was very productive early in the history of the mining field, in Ottawa County. At that time, most of the mining was being conducted in the Commerce, Oklahoma area and the McConnell-Barnes strikes. |
